DIY How to make Princess Mononoke Mask

A quick guide to make your very own Princess Mononoke San mask.

Some tips before you start!
Make sure you let each paper mache layer dry before applying the next layer. Drying and adding the salt will (apparently) prevent mould growth.... fingers crossed! 10 layers should do the trick.
In step 3, don't throw away those little circles you've just cut out! You can make San's earrings from them.
In step 5, have a bowl of water ready to help smooth the clay. It will look really lumpy and rough but don't worry. Some fine sand paper and patience gives a nice smooth finish.

This took approx. 10 hours to make. I used a hairdryer to speed up the drying process : )

    1. Hi, thanks for your comment! I'm still looking for the fur material, so haven't got to that part yet! Once I've found the fur I'll be adding Part 2 to this post, so watch this space :) !
